BASE Project Showcased at UNIMED Week 2026 High-Level Erasmus+ Meeting

The BASE Project– Bologna for Science Education in Palestine and Jordan project was showcased during UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union Week 2026, held in the framework of a high-level meeting with the European Commission Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC).

The session focused on the capitalization of Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education projects and highlighted concrete achievements, impact, and lessons learned from successful initiatives across the Mediterranean region.

During the event, Prof. Saed Khayyat, Director of the Projects Center, and Assistant to the Academic Vice President of the International Virtual University at An-Najah National University, presented the BASE project, outlining its objectives, key activities, and contributions to aligning science education in Palestine and Jordan with the Bologna Process. The presentation emphasized BASE’s role in modernizing curricula, strengthening institutional capacities, and enhancing regional and international cooperation in higher education.

The showcase placed BASE among a select group of impactful Erasmus+ projects, reaffirming its relevance to current and future Erasmus+ priorities and its contribution to advancing quality, comparability, and innovation in science education across the region.

The BASE project project aims to elevate higher education in Palestine and Jordan by implementing the Bologna Process in one program chosen from the multiple programs in the colleges of science at each partner university in Palestine and Jordan. The project will utilise Bologna’s standards and philosophy to develop these selected programs by creating curricula and establishing the context and environment supporting this development at each HEIs.
