Enhancing Higher Education in Palestine and Jordan through the Bologna Process
The BASE project aims to elevate higher education in Palestine and Jordan by implementing the Bologna Process in one program chosen from the multiple programs in the colleges of science at each partner university in Palestine and Jordan. The project will utilise Bologna’s standards and philosophy to develop these selected programs by creating curricula and establishing the context and environment supporting this development at each HEIs.
To enhance higher education in Palestine and Jordan by adopting and implementing the Bologna Process in selected science programs, ensuring alignment with international standards, fostering academic excellence, and strengthening institutional frameworks for sustainable educational development.
To create a harmonized and internationally recognized higher education system in Palestine and Jordan that upholds quality, accreditation, and academic excellence, empowering graduates with globally competitive skills and knowledge.
Project Summary
Our project aims to elevate higher education in Palestine and Jordan by implementing the Bologna
Process in one selected science program from each of the colleges of science at each partner university
in Palestine and Jordan. The project will utilize Bologna's standards and philosophy to develop these
selected programs by creating a new study plan based on Bologna Process standards and context and
establishing the enabling environment to support this new strategic development at each HEIs.
To achieve this goal, a partnership is established between HEIs, Ministries of Higher Education and
Scientific Research, the national accreditation agencies in Palestine and Jordan, and the European
universities that have the experience to be involved in the project. Accordingly, project partners will work
on three levels:

Implementation Levels of The BASE Project
• Develop comprehensive regulations and guidelines to govern higher education systems in Palestine and Jordan.
• Focus on quality assurance, accreditation, and certificate equivalency, enabling the integration of the Bologna Process into national systems.
• Revise and align bylaws and academic policies to reflect approved quality standards.
• Develop frameworks for awarding bachelor’s degrees in basic sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics) to ensure compliance with Bologna standards.
• Enhance the capacity of academic staff in course design, selection of teaching methods, and evaluation of student performance.
• Align academic standards and learning outcomes with the principles of the Bologna Process.
